And she knew it was her birthday! Noor Isolde woke up with a smile and kept on smiling the rest of the day. She knew something special was going on while I was preparing for her party. There was no way that she was going to miss out on anything, so she had only a little bit of sleep during the day.
When her little friends were starting to arrive one by one, visiting Noor in her home, she kind of understood what was happening here. And loved it!
Not much attention was given to the presents, but she was radiating by all the excitement. She smiled and cooed continuously. It seems that all the other kids and moms (plus one dad) were enjoying it just as much. Good thing I asked them to bring their own favorite toys, since Noor Isolde is the youngest and hasn’t much to offer to them when it comes to play material.
This birthday party was an interesting experience for me and Are. I must say that we did pretty well for first timers! We made our own birthday banner and thought about putting away all the fragile accessories in our home, ordered a birthday cake and way too much food, pølse med brød according to Norwegian traditions and popcorn for the toddlers.
We had help from Luvie, things went smooth. And Are didn’t run away screaming from all the loudness coming from the 9 babies and their moms! We weren’t even that exhausted afterwards. I guess we just enjoyed.
What didn’t go so well was my attempt to video tape the Birthday Cake Event. There you go, our first daughter’s first birthday. We’ll be seeing this clumsiness forever. Besides giving directions and hastily putting away the cam to fan away the smoke that was triggering the alarm, I at least got a good shot of the happy birthday girl who was intrigued by the sprouting candle fountain on her first birthday cake! This we will remember always, film, no film, or clumsy film. Happy Birthday Noor Isolde!
